days of bliss and thunder
Jul. 5th, 2007 02:08 pmEvents of the Life:
I'd be panicked that summer is slipping away so fast, if I weren't so absolutely *relaxed* right now.
Got head-stitches out this morning, painted mini-cereal boxes for a utility belt for a cos-party this weekend after eating the sugary cereal inside. spent 4th of July lightsabering, eating cheddarwursts, reading, and with M's family; quite pleasant. Although I haven't caught up on my stack of "The Economist", I have been doing a ton of non-school-affiliated reading, and it's WONDERFUL. and reading the internets. Haven't made it yet to the beach, or to the gym daily as promised, but since I've been taking care of niggling household tasks that have been on my mind and also searching for pithy summer employment, that's ok. Played Megaman 4 on Gamecube last night and was really disappointed...I remembered all the little tricks of the game, but was thrown by the new controller...is manual dexterity at fault here, due to age and poor adaptability? I blame my poor adaptability to the unfamiliar controller, and a low frustration-tolerance, compared to when I was younger.
Other:
saw 'Shogun Samurai',
re-read some Heinlein, "Sorcery and Cecilia" and its sequel (new guilty pleasures; like Jane Austen mixed with Harry Potter, done in letter/journal formats...cute and romantic.
and am now enjoying my new subscription to "Foreign Affairs" (strange to read stuff like this *not* on the Internet).
And, because I sucked so mightily at what I formerly championed, here's an LJ poll:
