so after a long week, kicked back and went into the City last night with some friends for some culture...M had gotten tickets for the NY Collegium of Music, so we sat in wooden pews in the lovely high-ceilinged Gothic church of St Vincent of Ferrere on the Upper East Side and listened to Baroque Classical music...quite lovely!

after an early breakfast with the fam, I unexpectedly went to a local store, because the local "High Fidelity"like music store was going out of business and was having a major sale...made me bummed out ("Scotties"). It was only one of their stores, out of three, but I wonder if it is finally hitting them; they were a better music store than most, diversified to sell videos, books, old vinyls, sheet music, music gear, etc, but maybe it just took longer.

Be that as it may, I pillaged while the pillaging was good. Here's some of the random stuff I came away with:

DVDS:
The Outsiders (using it for school, kidz are reading it now)
Cool Hand Luke
The Proposition (haven't seen it yet)
my own Batman, Mask of the Phantasm
a random old video on Henry VIII

MusicCDs:
Celtic Harp CD
PM Dawn (I don't know why I picked this up,curiosity)
Death From Above 1979

AMAZING BOX SETS which made my day:
Buddy Guy, and an Atlantic Records Box set of Rhythm and Blues, 1941-1974 (208 songs +),

some random records ($1): Willie Nelson and Family, Loggins and Messina, early Steve Martin comedy, and the 5th Dimension
a Blues calendar, and some stereo speaker cables.

Quite a random haul. the music of which I will now busily convert into MP3s...
