Trip to Freedom Tower and lower Manhattan spots with the kids...The Observation Tour was pretty cool, and then we walked around the area, got some street food, went to Fraunces Tavern and the SeaGlass Carousel, and took the ferry back to Hoboken.

Fraunces Tavern, where you can see the room upstairs where GW said farewell to his men, and George Washington in pop culture art exhibit, which was great

Father's Day

Hanging with friends

West Side Story at Villagers Theatre, great show, good to see older Skit kids doing amazing things

Learned about 3D Printing at the Library like a big nerdo

Parish Fest

...when L&K's pal was brave enough to go on the Zipper (with Kingfox), there was major Luke-returning-after-blowing-up-the-Deathstar vibes..

Liberty won a goldfish with her epic last toss! It's named Bubbly.

Tricky Tray win! such a fun surprise

Kirk

Kirk had a great week at guitar camp at School of Rock in Somerville. I'm so glad it went well, but the double dropoff of kids at different places meant a solid week in the car and there was a lot of traffic, did not like. he got a great positive start to the instrument though, and we hope to continue lessons in the fall.

new Zelda dropped

I have a lot of hardware store pics, and new handy acquisitions, bc I went to a hardware store in Somerville four times during the process of having a lost car key (Kingfox, loose in pocket!) copied. It was a real pain, but still better than going to a dealership and paying those prices.(look, this is the mundane sort of shit that I do all the time, I know it's very exciting).

Dogs

Bathytime for smelly bois!

sulking bc stuck inside bc of wildfire smoke.

The loveseat sleeper that I've been watching for a few years went on sale for Memorial Day. I love it, but it's a lot whiter than expected instead of cream, and everyone is tentative about sitting on it and getting it dirty...it's the no-wine no-coffee couch, currently. we'll see what happens.

Food

guess what I grew in my garden???
.... it's potato.

Variant Soup of the Summer

Pride Month

Re: continuing wildfire smoke situation, we have several air filters but caved and went the CorsiBox route, and it did a noticeably better job.

The switch to El Nino, excessive unprecedented heat in the oceans, ice melt, heat domes, and drastic climate changes are visible every day. A mind-blowing amount of Canada continues to be on fire. Smoke and air quality continue to be an issue this summer. I feel grieved and worried, an animalistic and doomerific need to prepare in whatever small ways my family can, and try to project an apocalyptic-mama-readiness-to-handle-it-all to my kids, balanced with a desperate quick-lets-do-whatever-fun-things-we-can-this-summer. Trying to face it and not ignore it.

Editorial statement in a financial mag recently

Twitter continues to be torpedo'd

For like a day and a half, it looked promising that Russia was destroying itself, but it didn't last long. (Prigozhin march). Heavy fighting in Ukraine. Dam blew and horrible devastation last month, this month, nuclear plant under threat.

Lots of very disheartening political situations that are very stressful. At the age where I find myself explaining more and more to the kids, who routinely surprise me with how much more resilient and adaptable they are to situations than I am. Always trying to think of how to equip them best for navigating the world.

Looking forward to August when we escape to be pirates for a week.
