Events of the Life: February 2011
Mar. 7th, 2011 12:53 pmSo I'm a little behind! It's March, and spring is coming.

Here's some things that happened:
Got to go ziplining @ Hunter Mountain! Heights really aren't my bag; I'm a pretty cautious and paranoid person, but when a friend asked me to write a freelance article about the new zipline offerings @ Hunter, I got to go and meet some great people and try it out...600 ft high, a minute and a half long on the first zip down...great!
zipline "school" at the peak

doesn't look so bad...

that first zip was a doosy...could barely make out the terminus for the trees

awesome trainer dudes

On my way to Hunter, I drove through the Catskill Mountains for the first time, and it was lovely...I definitely want to do a spring hiking trip there some weekend. There were also interesting rock formations along the drive.

ice along the road up the Catskills

bad photo of example of neat rocks
Other events: my bro and sis-in-law moved, so we celebrated Move #7..I tried to make punk looking tank tops for the move by spraypainting a stencilled logo, like I saw Kristin Stewart do as Joan Jett in the Runaways movie, but it didn't come out as awesome as I'd hoped.
Also, I got to go skiing with my Dad @ Blue Mountain. We had a fabulous day...it was a weekday and sunny and cold; no lines, we would do 1 minute runs and then ride the lift to recoup, it was pretty perfect.

Went to the mall with my friend Robin, here's me ogling Williams-Sonoma Star Wars spatulas:

our Roomba was grinding gears; the beauty of it is the interchangeable parts that we were able to order and swap in..wonderful design.

Kingfox and I also got to go to a metal show and see Turisas and Cradle of Filth at the Best Buy Theatre. Some of Turisas came out directly after their show and hung out for a bit, chatting and snapping pics...awesome!

This past weekend was Hoboken St. Pats, when, as KF likes to say, the streets run with rivers of green vomit. Prime weather, fun times hanging out with people.

all of the local eateries get into the spirit (here's a sushi place and McDonalds)

Hoboken's Batman rode in the parade

instead of a lemonade stand, these enterprising young lads were selling hydration to the drinkers

I can't brag of any other really awesome things this month, I admit to slackerdom. I've been enjoying going kickboxing with kingfox @ CKO, going dogparking with Smithy, playing AC Brotherhood Multiplayer, and doing a lot of reading. Quiet month for me, busy month for the rest of the world (union vs state in Wisconsin, Egypt's revolution).
aaaand, some Smithy and food-blogging.
homemade pesto

baked apples, some kind of fish

swiss cheese sherry chicken with mushrooms and broccolini

i also made fresh soda bread and Guinness cupcakes and corned beef for the parade, but haven't located my photo yet, oh well.

you let them on the couch just once, and it's over

a happy and muddy day at the dogpark

looking so grown up!
