belated events of the life, catching up.

tail-end of a domestic spring break, which was 50/50 play/work-catchup. maidoftheshore's bday and Wii and friends. On Easter, went to "Sunrise Service" at Washington Rock Park (interdenominational church service, sunrise, Easter morning....been happening since i was a kid). attendance is down...just about 30 people were there, and it didn't start until 6:10. We got there kinda early, and I was all like "First!" the a-capella hymns were a bit dirge-y at 6 in the morning, but i really like seeing the sun rise over NYC, and thinking of Easter morning.

easter lunch= we stick to some ukrainian classics for Easter; ham, pierogies, "hren" (pungent horseradish kraut).

easter egg hunt inside the house for my nephew, who had a wretched chest cold, and presents for natalee and he. where is the egg?

kingfox helped

(my parents got this dancing animatronic bunny, left, *with the intent* of freaking her out, but she didn't mind it).

Busy following week at school; one of my teacher-friends did not get tenure and was essentially fired (but finishes out the year). depressing, unwarranted and heavy stuff; and i might be in the same spot next year (already trying not to stress about that, and to float where life takes me and remember that i have other skills and could re-adjust and move on to something else). doing hardcore test-prep with my students. Grand Assembly for faire; getting beers with friends. Liquid worship service in Morristown. getting my car fixed (car key, trunk), and prepping the moto to find that I need new tires (I suppose its about time, and you really need to take good care of your tires, you don't want to mess around), but it was more expense (it seems like the year of car-fixing and other vehicle-fixing expenses). also glued my helmet, because it was floppy and sad and needed repair. Also made it out to New Hope last weekend with kingfox, which was a lot of fun. we split a pitcher of Landshark at John and Peter's bar, and then strolled around, finally ending up at my fave sitting-spot overlooking the river.

a family friend died unexpectedly over the weekend, heart attack in his 40s (he was a longtime marathon runner and one of the fittest people i know. go figure.) left behind four kids and a grieving widow (another teacher, my mom's friend), and because he was a cop and really really active in the community and a well-known, super guy, everyone in the schools has been grieving. in fact, i kind of lost it in school after the "moment of silence" during homeroom. the "moment" ended, and I was still kind of choked up, and the kids were dead silent and didn't know what to do, until one of them finally broke the silence with, "Wow, this is the quietest I've ever seen this class!" and we all kinda laughed a bit and began things. They're closing the school for the funeral, going to the wake tomorrow. just really, really sad.

other: gave up tuna this week, due to overfishing. still struggling with kicking sugar and bingeing. howev, have more energy, due to super GNC vitamins (lots of iron in them...i think this is making a difference, because i've had tons of energy the past three days and I've only been averaging four and a half hours of sleep per night, which should have wiped me out after a day or two...better living through chemistry!)

reading: "Shakespeare's Kings" by John Julius Norwich, finished "Skinny Bitch" diet book, which was helpful. still eating bread-product in the morning, though. and drinking coffee. after sugar, those are the next things to go...
