s'been a strange month so far...i keep alternating between some state of anti-consumerism-re-evaluate-your-life, naturalistic state ((helped by seeing "Into the Wild", listened to Eddie Vedder soundtrack, lots of fall nature-hikes around area, remnants in brain of Colorado experience, etc, long beautiful commute to reflect and bursts of working out in the barn)), and some hyper-trendy-media-blitzed-out state (going to the MALL! tivo! lots of music and movies and internet and books and christmas-shopping and shopping deals!)...it's really strange.
got new glasses today, woot! (good, since I've frequently been teaching class and my classes have been flying off my face with any sort of half-wild gesticulation that i make, (often). but it took *forever*.

spent the weekend in Hoboken with kingfox, which was very pleasant. we watched Sweeney Todd last night while i graded; he's been on a Fable kick, and we went out on Sat nite, missed "Zack and Miris" due to sold-outedness, so did some NYC bar hopping instead with friends. ((Note to self: you *know* tequila is not for you...pomegranite margueritas notwithstanding...mixing with Max Brenner chocolate espresso mocha latte? BAD CALL. bad call.)) we also got "Five Brothers" burgers and fries, yum...cajun fries with malt vinegar. (i also had my first anchovy pizza this past week...why didn't anyone ever tell me that anchovies are the perfect food? little salty fish...yum!!)
some internet-thingses I ordered finally came in today; I'm currently watching "The Fall" (Tarsem Singh), and grading; listened to the TWILIGHT soundtrack in my car (it's actually really good; but I can't figure out why they stuck a random 10 or 12 year old Collective Soul track on it...wierd!), and I have to say that I'm excited for the BOND movie, AND for Twilight.
(Yo, I read Stephanie Meyer like THREE years ago, man...way ahead of this insanity marketing curve. Here's my ranked order of her books (which are just guilty-pleasure-teen-romances, not Potterish-mass-appeal IMHO; nor even RICEish I.w.a.V. quality): Eclipse (2nd book), Twilight (1st book), Breaking Dawn (grand finale), and then whatever the crummy 3rd one was (filler!))

here's a pic from the Twilight restroom graffiti in the chocolate restaurant we went to on friday night ("Bella and Edward Forever!" to which some fan had scrawled, "oh god, yes!") romantic suckers, all.
right! well, off!
((and here's me ma, painting some birchy trees on a tin backdrop for their new stove))
