Polar Challenge called me yesterday

I just got a message about being shortlisted to go on a race to the North Pole.
(in brief: i signed up for a contest, a worldwide race, that has international teams that race to find magnetic north.)
HOLY CRAP, I never thought I'd get called! I CAN'T go! The intro meeting is in Denver on October 18th. Should I fly out, fly back in 1 day to check it out?
