kingfox out for his birthday to Anthony Bourdain's restaurant Les Halles it was the first time I've ever tried escargot...snails are so cute, but tasty little suckers...the food was exquisite, and we split a very fine bottle of wine from Languedoc and talked long into the night...some drunken pics of Gotham here
rest of the schoolweek hurtled on, as we prepared for a joint-kingfox-jedimentat birthday party in Hoboken (Costco trips for mangoes, SuperSavr for the glorious booze and Chatham Artillery Punch fixings ((kingfox juiced pounds and pounds of citrus for this and lovingly tended a cooler on the fire escape for days...it was worth it!)), Ibby's for a beautiful MiddleEastern platter (picked up by the generous runstaverun and kikibird), sushi from Hoboken, and more alcohol than you could drink in a month...it was fun! my pics here,
but better ones here and here. MILLE GRAZIE to EVERYONE who showed up; it was great fun hanging with you..(and there's so many alcoholic leftovers that you ahve a standing invitation to come over and play Guitar Hero or Wii for the next, oh, eight weekends!!) Even got thoughtful and generous gifts from people (totally unnecessary, but appreciated!pyratking and wife, feffthekidd, kikibird and runstaverun, maidoftheshore, stratfordgal and Co., I'm lookin' at you!) I'm sure kingfox will have a better write-up of the party and other recent events (also the last two weekends...Peapack lime-kiln excursions, finding yerba mate at an NJ gas station, and last weekend's decadent bash at whymercy's and darkhand's in the "Seven Circles of Hell")...but mine is up faster...ah, the benefits of early rising...early posting!
Oh, and Russ got me a Wii. expect no posts 'til spring. Wheeeeeiiiiii!
