Yeah so I missed May; kept telling myself I'd get back to it, and now it's July...

We went and explored Bannerman Castle for Memorial Day; it was really awesome

July 2023 and Pennsic War 50
Pennsic War #50

It was my fourth Pennsic.

I laughed, a lot. I wept. I flitted and circled and watched; I dove right into deep convos, I floated at the edges of huge parties, vibing off their roiling energy. I let myself have high highs, and lows lows, (which was harder than expected bc I have really emotionally locked myself down over the past few years). I danced, I challenged myself in new ways, I got artistic infusions and fresh motivations and ideas, I let the drums become my pulse, I watched the moon rise over the lake, I saw the sun start to come up, with birds tweeting the dawn.
my inclination is to wander as much as possible, but then I often feel bad that I don't spend more time hanging at the boat, talking more with friends, being a pirate and participating in clever or silly shenanigans. i def owe my sanity to a few good chats (you know who you are).
The last two days got cut shorter than I expected and I definitely left some things unresolved or didn't get to have some conversations or hangouts or do some things that I anticipated. But at least several weeks of living was squeezed into those six days. I love so much about Pennsic, but primarily the people, both old friends and new.
Thanks as ever to those who help build this dream together; may we do it all again next year.
I barely touch my phone at Pennsic, here are all pics I stole from friends and social media posts, apologies for lack of photo credits. (Mostly from Josh, JonJon, Stephanie, Jon, Kingfox, various FB posts...)

our castaway hut

...do I look sober in this pic? bc i think i was trying to look sober. NOT A LOT OF SOBRIETY goin' on for me during that week, have to say...

i love the hell out of being a pirate on this boat with my friends

The ship won some beads

Odin One-Eye helmet

Bibs made a bowl and a fibula, Jammy and I took a class on Chinese chess

Covid started appearing and I booked out a day or two early with the kids

(It kind of takes two weeks to 'gently' and preparedly pack, two weeks to unpack and get things squared away properly. lots of rain and wet things upon return, this time).
A friend taught a Ukrainian folkloric songs class...you can click the pics through to the vid and hear us singing a Ukrainian song and a Belarussian song. Singing is a challenge for me, for obvs reasons, but I really enjoyed it.

Bodhi missed me a little bit.

More kid outfits and stuff, bc look at these cute kids

Teaching Liberty Chinese Chess

The kids finished up Town Rec Camp, kids had a blast. Some ballet camp and acting camp.

Power Outage

Pool

Beach

Friend's Reading at a Book Shop

Friend's Bday party

Friend's Foam Party! (Foam was over my head!)

Dogs
terrified of fireworks

so tired after being at the farm

House Projects:
little/slow progress! Chest freezer addition and electrical problem in barn worked out. working on attaching rain barrels; had a missing gutter put on the back of the barn to fix a drainage problem. Working on adding battery for our solar panel system.

replacing some hardware in the bathrooms. eventually. mostly I just look at the tools and cue up instructional YouTube videos, then wander off and work on something else...

Snapped a brace, orthodontic emerg. visit

Barbie movie with my girlie

Gardening and whatnot

garlic scape pesto

Upgraded our water filtration with a whole-house filter, finally
Cars needed a lot of maintenance; managed to do it mostly before Pennsic road trips

Maui burned from wildfires. Greece burned. Floods in Norway, Spain. Trump indited. Covid surged (Eris variant).

there's an osteo/MCAS connection. still working on resolving hip pain. I take a stupid amount of supplements.
